JD Williams Throws a Line for Comic Releif!

13th March 2009

Volunteers from JD Williams’ Contact Centre in Manchester City Centre are donating their services on Friday 13th March to help staff the official donation line for Red Nose Day 2009!

The 120-strong team from across the Contact Centre, Head Office and Logistics division will be taking calls throughout the live TV extravaganza on BBC One, which will be hosted by some of the biggest names in TV, including Davina McCall and David Tennant.

As well as managing the vital calls on the night, volunteers will be showing their support for Red Nose Day by Wearing Something Funny for Money. During the odd break from the phones, volunteers will be kept busy with raffles, spot prizes, competitions, attempts at breaking the Guinness World Record for eating in 3 crackers in the shortest time – and lots of other activities, all to raise additional funds on the night.

Over £67 million was raised for Red Nose Day 2007, and this year JD Williams hopes to help Comic Relief go even bigger when Red Nose Day hits screens across the country on Friday, March 13.

JD Williams Chief Executive, Alan White said:

“I’m really proud that our great team here at JD Williams, who are normally focused on exceptional service to our customers, have generously volunteered to be part of Red Nose Day, and will be contributing to an atmosphere that is truly incredible.

“Millions of disadvantaged people across the UK and Africa are set to benefit from the nation’s generosity, and managing these calls is crucial to making sure this money reaches those who need it most. “

On the support from call centres, Jan Brown, Comic Relief’s Campaign Logistics Officer, said:

“JD Williams is one of a team of call centres helping us to manage these all important calls, and we’d like to say a massive thank you to all the staff that have given up their Friday night to be a part of it.

“Thanks to our brilliant volunteers and BT, Red Nose Day call centres will form a virtual network of a staggering 12,000 lines, which will really help us to raise a huge amount of money and change lives. “

The seven-hour TV bonanza will be on Red Nose Day, March 13, BBC One, from 7pm.
